NRCS Reaches Out at Delaware Agriculture Week 2009

by Michelle Jacobs, Community Relations Officer, DNREC

The cold weather couldn’t keep participants from attending Delaware Agriculture Week 2009, held January 5 – 10, in Harrington.  USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) employees took this opportunity to update attendees on new information regarding the 2008 Farm Bill and other agency services.  There was plenty of exposure for NRCS as the more than 1500 farmers, agriculture industry professionals, cooperative extension specialists, research scientists and others strolled through the trade show area of the event.

Throughout the week, NRCS conservation professionals spoke with numerous landowners, including approximately 40 producers who were interested in specific programs available to them.

Delaware Agriculture Week consolidates farm-based educational meetings while recognizing and celebrating the industry's importance. The event is a collaborative effort of the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, the Delaware State University Cooperative Extension and the Delaware Department of Agriculture.
