USDA NRCS Holds Open House and Hosts
Delaware Conservation Partnership Reception
by Michelle Jacobs, Community Relations Office, DNREC
Delaware
Conservation Partnership colleagues came together
on November 12, 2008 to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments
related to the conservation mission,
“Helping People Help the Land.”
Approximately
80 representatives
from the following organizations were on
hand: Kent, Sussex and New
Castle Conservation Districts, Delaware Association of Conservation
Districts, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control –
Division of Soil & Water Conservation, Delaware Department of
Agriculture, NRCS, and the First State Resource Conservation &
Development Council. All were treated to light refreshments, a
continuous slide show of staff, and participants took an open house tour
of the USDA NRCS state office.
Although
there was no formal agenda for the event, planning committee chair, Les
Stillson, gathered the group together for a few moments to hear from
partnership leaders. Those that spoke thanked everyone for their
efforts throughout the year. One theme that was mentioned repeatedly
was the realization that Delaware’s Conservation Partnership is truly
instrumental in accomplishing program goals.
As a token of appreciation, State Conservationist
Russell Morgan provided participants with certificates of
appreciation that acknowledged their
dedicated service to the Partnership. Additionally, each guest received
an American Holly seedling, Delaware’s state tree, as a growing reminder
of the importance of their contributions to the success of the Delaware
Conservation Partnership.
